How To Remove Gatorade From Carpet

To clean Gatorade from synthetic carpet, follow the procedures listed below.  Begin with step one, progressing only to the next step if necessary.  Remember that you always want to use the gentlest approach to cleaning a carpet stain first.

(Begin with step 1, if the stain remains then proceed to the next step. Always test the following stain removal solutions in an inconspicuous area first to make sure they won't damage your carpet.)

Synthetic Carpet

1.  Use a detergent solution by mixing one teaspoon of clear dish washing liquid with one cup of warm water. Make sure the water is not hot.

The bad thing about spilling Gatorade on carpet is that the drink contains actual dyes in it that can permanently discolor your carpet. I found this out the hard way once after jogging. Should this happen to you, it's critical that you move quickly to blot up the stain. The less time a stain has to set, the more likely it is that you'll be able to successfully remove it.

Grab paper towels or a clean rag and blot at the stain. Don't rub it as you can easily spread the stain and damage the carpet's fibers. Blot up as much of the Gatorade as you can in this manner, then mix together the solution listed in step one.

Using a sponge or clean towel, gently blot the solution onto the stain. Be careful not to spread the stain, blot at it, don't rub. Repeat as necessary until the stain is gone. Rinse with plain water using a fresh towel and dry the area.

Hopefully you've been successful. If not you may want to get a quote from your local carpet cleaner.
